Message most sub mfgs specs show enclosure vol for sealed and ported use. The "filler" can be dacron or building insulation (keep it out of the rear of the speaker) loosely installed in the box. It "fools" the speaker into thinking the box is bigger by slowing the air movement. My system, and I'm sure lots of others, has about the same power as you ( nice clean Alpine) and get great sound. All the factors noted above contribute. Obviously, even "experts" will quibble/argue about details here and there, but sizing, sealing (if you go that route), proper gauge wires, and correct wiring will each contribute to a clean sound. Clean power, and good speakers are the most obvoius places for big money. Happy trails...
